The frontwoman of Broadcast, Trish Keenan, passed away from complications do to pneumonia this morning. It’s a real bummer because she was part of one of those more progressive and experimental bands on Warp Records. Their first full length album, “The Noise Made by People” was released in 2000 and I was obsessed with the strange dark world that was created inside of that record. As the years went on, I lost a bit of interest in their later releases, but I’ve never stopped loving that first album. Recently, their work with Focus Group started to get me back into the band, but sadly, those will be the last releases. Here is the song that got me into them (due in part to a recommendation by Thom Yorke in Q magazine) eleven years ago.
