“Spiral” by Wye Oak // Adult Swim 2012 Singles Program (2012)
Wye Oak are back with a new track available on this summer’s Adult Swim Singles Program. “Spiral” steps away from their dust blown folk pop of recent material and slides comfortably into a churning prog-pop sound that sounds absolutely killer. Jenn Wasner’s incredible voice is spun and warped and echoed back upon itself, creating spaced out harmonies while the swirling synths and guitar lines cascade off of one another forming one gorgeously, hypnotic atmosphere. Highly recommended for fans of Bear in Heaven, Department of Eagles, and Lower Dens.
In continuing with the series started two months back, here is another collection of great finds from the Bandcamp vaults. Once again, Danceyrselfclean has been very helpful with compiling the list of bands. Like last time, this is not meant to be any definitive collection, as I only focused on genres of interest and recent updates.
This is a collection of bands that I felt deserved a little extra recognition and hopefully in the coming months they’ll start gaining the momentum that they deserve. Included are links to each bands Bandcamp page, where you can most often times find free downloads (and or name-your-own-price and discounted albums) as well as fairly regular updates. Give something new a chance. Hopefully you won’t be disappointed.

Please support the artists that you find and enjoy. Buy their music, merchandise and tickets to see their shows. Supporting them is the only purpose in doing this blog. Contrary to the opinions of some, music blogs are a great way to discover new music, but there will only be so much new music to go around if these artists can’t afford to support themselves through their art and commerce. Only use these mixtapes as a guide to find something to throw your (financial and emotional) support behind.
