RADIO SLOW RIOT // EPISODE TEN (3.14.12)

These are fewer and further between these days, but I promise you that this episode is worth the wait. In fact, this might be my favorite in a very long time. I keep it just music this week (aside from a short intro) and the 90 minutes run the vibe from upbeat post-punk energy to lo-fi jangles to dreamier electro pop onto ethereal and ambient night music. It’s a well oiled machine this one. The next couple of mixtapes will come faster than recent episodes and in the future there will be some surprises. In fact, if this one gets a good reaction, I might go back to the downloadable zip files with the mp3s separate from the stream. If the reaction is good for this one, I will upload the zip file in a couple of days. If not and no one really cares, then I really need to try harder apparently. At any rate, I hope you enjoy this episode of Radio Slow Riot because it’s loaded with goodies.

Please share/reblog with others if you like what you hear and or support any and all artists that strike your interest. Stream or download as you wish. Thanks for listening to Radio Slow Riot.

Contrary to the opinions of some, music blogs are a great way to discover new music, but there will only be so much new music to go around if these artists can’t afford to support themselves through their art and commerce. RADIO SLOW RIOT // Episode Nine (2.21.12)

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for me and that’s certainly gone and cut into my podcasting time, not to mention the recent issue with Mediafire which caused all back catalog hosting to disappear (remedy coming soon) and it’s affect on free time. However, I managed to squeeze a mixtape/podcast out this week with some of the more exciting releases in the past couple of weeks, as well as a couple of choice older gems. I kept my intros light to maintain a solid vibe and flow and so I won’t drag it out here any further.

Please don’t be afraid to share/reblog with others and or support any and all artists that strike your interest. Stream or download as you wish. Thanks for listening to Radio Slow Riot.

La Sera - Break My Heart

“Break My Heart” by La Sera // Sees the Light (2012)

Katy Goodman is back with another song that somehow manages to rival the catchiness of “Please Be My Third Eye”. This is another taste of La Sera’s forthcoming full length Sees the Light and it’s every bit as good as the last. Upbeat sunny garage pop with killer melodies and crunchy lo-fi guitars. I’m all over it.

Here’s a video for one of my favorite tracks of the year thus far, the insanely catchy “Please Be My Third Eye” by Katy Goodman’s La Sera project. Hopefully you have nothing against pretty girls singing in sunny SoCal locales (see that shit i did right there), because that’s exactly what you get with this video. Good stuff all around.

p|m|w’s Favorite Songs of the Week /// January 6th, 2012

Instead of limiting myself to the usual six songs for a weekly pick, I’ve decided to broaden it out a bit from here on out when the time calls for it. This week was actually pretty well stacked with great new tracks, but I’ve limited myself to eight that I feel are worth a second listen. I’m sure that I’ve missed some picks here and there, but so be it - this, the first week back into the new year, was dominating my ears with the help of these eight selections. Hopefully something in here excites your ears as much as they do mine.

As always, click on the title and artist to hear the songs and if something happens to tickle your fancy, please do what you can to support the artists. Happy listening and have a wonderful weekend!

PLAYLIST (in no particular order)

And of course, as usual, there’s a podcast that I hope that you found your way to hearing. This week’s podcast was a special all-Shoegaze edition which featured some of my favorite shoegaze and dream pop tracks from the past year.

Please give any or all of those things a listen and spread the word for good music. Thank you for all of the support, kind words, reblogs, and follows. They are very much appreciated. Don’t forget to support the bands that you enjoy in whatever way that you can (blog, tweet, share). Stay warm, listen loudly, be safe, and have a wonderful weekend!

“Please Be My Third Eye” by La Sera // Sees the Light (2012)

It’s been a good week for fans of the members of Vivian Girls. First, former member Frankie Rose released her excellent lo-fi, synth pop track “Know Me” to much excitement and now Katy Goodman’s other project, La Sera, has dropped the first single from their forthcoming full length, Sees the Light, and it’s a killer upbeat blast of lo-fi power pop. Highly recommended for fans of Vivian Girls, Brilliant Colors, and That Dog
