“In Every Dream Home a Heartache” by Roxy Music // from the album For Your Pleasure
I know I don’t usually dive back into the classics, but something just reminded me of this song and then I found myself remembering a very long night of intoxicants and stimulants that found me and an old friend imagining our pitch to Roxy Music in 1973 for a music video to this track. It was amazing. If only time machines existed - I would load up on the cocaine, travel back in time and find a young Bryan Ferry. Then I would load up his nose with his favorite treat and pitch him my short film based on his tale of love with a blow-up doll. It would have revolutionized the game years before MTV. Then again, why would I bother with today’s cocaine. Clearly I wouldn’t need to coerce Roxy Music with drugs from the future - they were obviously loaded on drugs from the past. And it was working because this song is a fucking gem.
I wonder if this were released today, if Pitchfork would find a way to score it a 10.1 because it’s that fucking insane.
