All My Friends

“All My Friends” by Tokyo Police Club // Originally by LCD Soundsystem

I can’t imagine anyone is going to argue that this cover is better than the original, but it’s a fun take on a perfect song. So here goes Tokyo Police Club with their 2007 entry into their 10 Covers/ 10 Years/ 10 Days project. The melancholy is gone, and it’s transformed into more of a rocking affair, but it’s still solid and worth a listen. Be sure to check out the Tokyo Police Club Soundcloud page to keep up with their 10 Covers/ 10 Years/ 10 Days project.

“Long Distance Call (feat. Ray Suen of Mariachi El Bronx)” by Tokyo Police Club // Originally by Phoenix

Add another solid cover to the Tokyo Police Club 10 Covers Project. This time they take Phoenix’s 2007 ear candy treat, “Long Distance Call” for a rollicking ride. Definitely one of the better of the bunch so far. Give it a listen for sure! Be sure to check out the Tokyo Police Club Soundcloud page to keep up with their 10 Covers/ 10 Years/ 10 Days project.

“Little Sister” by Tokyo Police Club (feat. Orianthi) // Originally by Queens of the Stone Age

Continuing with their 10 Covers / 10 Years / 10 Days project, today we get Tokyo Police Club taking on Queens of the Stone Age with the help of Orianthi’s guitar muscle. It’s another solid take that doesn’t take too many liberties with the original but is an interesting sound all the same. Be sure to check out the Tokyo Police Club Soundcloud page to keep up with their 10 Covers/ 10 Years/ 10 Days project.

Since U Been Gone

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

“Since U Been Gone” by Tokyo Police Club // Originally by Kelly Clarkson

So far, they’ve handled The Strokes, Moby, and Jimmy Eat World so naturally, the next step is Kelly Clarkson. Of course it is. They do a ragged, jangly pop take on the pop hit and it’s a fun time all around. Tokyo Police Club - Under Control

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

“Under Control” by Tokyo Police Club // Originally by The Strokes

Continuing with their 10 Covers/ 10 Days/ 10 Years project started with Moby’s “South Side” and continued yesterday with Jimmy Eat World’s “Sweetness, here is Tokyo Police Club trying their hand at The Strokes’ “Under Control”. The festivities are kept fairly close to the chest on this one as they don’t really change things up all that much, but that’s fine because it’s a solid cover all the same.

Tokyo Police Club - Sweetness (Featuring Michael Angelakos of Passion Pit)

“Sweetness” by Tokyo Police Club (feat. Michael Angelakos of Passion Pit) // Originally by Jimmy Eat World

Continuing with their 10 Covers/10 Days/ 10 Years project started yesterday with the cover of Moby’s “South Side”, today Tokyo Police Club go back to a soft spot of mine by diving into Jimmy Eat World’s “Bleed American” days (I’m a sucker for Clarity and Bleed American) and they bring with them Michael Angelakos of Passion Pit to sweeten the deal. Definitely worth a listen. Subscribe to Tokyo Police Club’s Soundcloud page for each new cover.

“South Side” by Tokyo Police Club (feat. Morgan Kibby of M83) // Originally by Moby

Tokyo Police Club are embarking on a little mission to do ten covers over the next ten days which span ten years of popular music. Sounds pretty nifty. Here’s the first from the batch and it’s a pretty rock solid cover of Moby and Gwen Stefani’s hit, “South Side” from the album Play.
