“Afraid of Summer” by Lost Lander // Dart (2011)
Lost Lander has only dropped two tracks so far, but each one has a great sound. The first, “Cold Feet”, has a great indie rock throwback sound to some of the great northwestern bands of the past fifteen or so years. This new track, “Afraid of Summer”, has more of eclectic sound, like a more experimental Fleet Foxes. The same big melodies are there, but this time the tone is more somber, and the shimmering orchestrations shift and morph into something almost resembling a gypsy dance beat about midway through. It’s a really cool song and further intrigues me for what the forthcoming full length might hold.
