“First Days of Something” by Young Dreams // Between Places (Out March 5th, via Modular)
Norway’s Young Dreams continue to drop infectious indie pop jams in the lead up to their debut album. This time around, we’ve got the soaring gem that lands somewhere between the mystic folks sounds of Fleet Foxes and the layered, strings-laden charm of Illinois-era Sufjan Stevens. The band once again shows that they’re capable of writing the big crowd pleasers and with the right late night tv appearance or festival performance, they could be one of the breakout bands of 2013. “Between Places” drops next month and we’ll all be able to hear what awaits. In the meantime, check out this track. It’s a shimmering, indie pop treat that is worth crawling inside and getting lost for a while.
