“Guiding Light” by Tennis // Guiding Light (single) (2012)
Always the thankful band, Tennis has offered up this cover of Television’s “Guiding Light” as a thank you to fans for their support of this year’s “Young and Old”. Of course, “Guiding Light” comes from Television’s seminal “Marquee Moon”, and here Tennis doesn’t stray far from the original’s laidback vibe. If anything, the Tennis version carries with it a little bit of a pop that reminds me of The Walkmen’s recent album, “Heaven”, but then again, that album reminded me of “Marquee Moon” in parts, so - circle of life (apparently). Nevermind me or my rambling, here’s Tennis and their extra special cover of a Television classic.
