Eternal Summers "Into Your Arms (Cover of a Cover)"

“Into Your Arms” by Eternal Summers // Originally by Love Positions & (later) The Lemonheads
Eternal Summers were responsible for one of my favorite songs of last year, and here is them covering one of my favorite songs of the 90’s. “Into Your Arms” was originally recorded by Love Positions (written by Robyn St. Clare who was one half of the band) as sort of a dreamy, lo-fi ballad. Later, Evan Dando and The Lemonheads dug it out and added the upbeat, sing-a-long, rock vibe which made it semi-famous. Both versions are stellar because the song itself is a perfect bit of simple pop music. Catchy, warm, and instantly memorable. Eternal Summers straddle the line a bit in their cover, as they don’t go for the upbeat blast of fun that you find with The Lemonheads, but they also don’t cut it back to the twee/dream pop sounds of the very original. This works for them because that’s the place that they’re best sounds usually stem from. It’s a great little track and highly recommended for anyone who’s fans of The Sundays, Beach Fossils, or Minks.
